3 Fun Crafts to DIY
One of the most gratifying feelings is completing a DIY project. Whether it took months, weeks, hours, or minutes, seeing the finished product is rewarding. The last few months have been cold, so I have tackled a few creative ideas I found on Pinterest and wanted to share them – 3 in particular
1. Growing in Mason Jars
The idea behind growing herbs or flowers in mason jars goes way back, but I can’t even remember the last time I tried. With the snow piling up outside, I figured what better to do than start an indoor garden. The best part about this project, is it only cost a few dollars and you can grow herbs for cooking. Personally, I chose basil and chives. So easy! My 2 year old loved to water and watch the progress, while we got to enjoy the flavor for dinner. Seedler is a company that actually delivers the mason jar pre-packed with the seeds for you! Check them out if you are pressed for time and don’t have the resources already.
2. Black board paint
Turning your wall into a blackboard has never been easier. For just a few dollars you can buy the paint and throw it on any wall that is easily accessible for your children. I put two coats of the paint on one wall and we’ve put something new up every day. Whether that’s a schedule, grocery list, drawn pictures, or just doodling, its been a blast.
If you have not already made a few decorative pieces yourself, I suggest it. If you do not have a kiln to fire the clay, post of Facebook to see if a friend does. It’s a great craft to do with your children as they can make their own pieces as well. Get a hand print and save it for years down the road.
Post any other DIY projects you like to do as well!
